1. Wild Animal Park in Kadzidłowo
The Wild Animal Park in Kadzidłowo is a zoo located in the Pisz Forest, within the Masurian Landscape Park (between Ruciane-Nida and Mikołajki). The park spans approximately 100 hectares and is home to over 400 animals representing over 100 species (including tarpans, fallow deer, Scandinavian wolves, and moose). The park was created to preserve endangered species. Visitors can see them up close and learn about their habits, providing an unforgettable experience for children.
2. Galindia near Mikołajki
Galindia is a place styled as an Old Prussian settlement, harking back to the first peoples to settle the area of modern-day Masuria. The Galindians, a Baltic tribe, inhabited Masuria from around the 5th century BC to the 13th century AD. What attractions await children in Galindia? Visitors can see, among other things, the Holy Grove, the Glade of Old Prussian Rites, the Demon Labyrinth, and the Witch’s Cave.
3. Western town in Mrągowo
The western town of Mrongoville will transport children back to the era of cowboys and the world of the endless prairies. The town recreates the 19th-century Wild West and allows them to experience the atmosphere and culture of Native Americans. Mrongoville’s buildings include a sheriff’s office, a bank, and a saloon. Children will also be delighted by the Indian Village and the opportunity to meet real cowboys.
4. ZOO safari near Giżycko
Located in the small village of Okrągłe (near Giżycko), the Masurian Zoo Safari combines a classic zoo with an amusement park. Animals live in near-natural conditions and have access to over 100 hectares of land. Zoo Safari is home to approximately 400 animals of 24 different species, offering almost direct contact with them. Additional attractions for children include tubing, a playground, and horseback riding.
5. Sailing Village in Mikołajki
A sailing village might seem like an unusual destination for a trip with children. However, adventurous little ones will surely love the unique port atmosphere and the numerous attractions it offers. While in the sailing village, it’s also worth taking a cruise – from Lake Mikołajskie (where this famous port is located) you can sail out to the largest lake in Poland, Śniardwy.
6. Museum in Krutynia
In the picturesque village of Krutyń lies a unique Natural History Museum, located in… a barn. The museum comprises several rooms and offers, among other things, the opportunity to learn about the nature of Masuria, presented in a multimedia presentation. The unique exhibits, such as the collection of birds of prey, are also quite impressive.
7. Mazurolandia
Mazurolandia is a park located near Kętrzyn, designed with families in mind. Attractions that kids will love include a knight’s stronghold (where you can try on armor and even try your hand at archery), an amusement park, and an electric train. Also worth checking out are the Warmia and Mazury Miniature Park (featuring miniatures of the region’s most beautiful monuments) and the Walkiria Masurian Military Park.
